Yes. Patients have direct messaging access to their provider through the patient portal for questions and support between appointments. The portal is the appropriate channel for anything involving your health information, so please do not send medical details by email.
After booking, you will receive intake questionnaires to complete before your appointment. Lab work is ordered prior to your initial consultation so your results are ready for review. At your visit, your provider will review your labs, health history, symptoms and goals, and discuss whether treatment is appropriate for you.
Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy
Bioidentical means the hormones are molecularly identical to the ones your body naturally produces. They are derived from plant sources (typically soy or yam) and compounded to your individual prescription. This differs structurally from synthetic hormones, which are not identical to human hormones. Both bioidentical and synthetic hormone therapy carry risks that your provider will review with you in the context of your personal and family health history.
If you are experiencing symptoms of hormonal imbalance such as fatigue, weight gain, low libido, brain fog, hot flashes, mood changes or sleep problems, you may be a candidate. Your provider will order comprehensive lab work before your initial consultation and evaluate your symptoms, medical history and risk factors to determine whether BHRT is appropriate for you.
Hormone therapy has been studied for decades and is widely used, but it is not risk-free and it is not appropriate for everyone. Risks depend on your age, your personal and family medical history, which hormones are prescribed, the dose and the route of administration. Compounded hormone preparations are not FDA-approved products and have not undergone the same premarket review as commercially manufactured hormone therapies. Your provider will discuss the known benefits and risks with you before starting treatment and will monitor you with regular lab work and follow-up.
It varies. Some patients report changes within the first few weeks, while finding the right dose commonly takes three to six months. Hormone balancing is an iterative process, and your provider will adjust your protocol over time based on your lab results and how you are feeling. Individual results vary and improvement is not guaranteed.
Yes. Each prescription is compounded specifically for you based on your lab results, symptoms and clinical evaluation, rather than dispensed at a fixed commercial strength.
Creams and topical preparations, injections, sublingual medications and oral medications. Your provider will recommend a delivery method based on your clinical needs and your preferences.
Labs are ordered before your initial consultation and then rechecked at intervals, commonly every 8–12 weeks early in treatment, then less frequently once your protocol is stable. Your provider will set a monitoring schedule appropriate to your treatment.
Your initial BHRT consultation is conducted in person at our Palmdale clinic. Follow-up visits may be conducted in person or via telehealth depending on your needs and your provider's recommendation.
Traditional hormone replacement therapy often uses synthetic hormones or hormones derived from animal sources. BHRT uses hormones that are molecularly identical to human hormones. Compounded BHRT is also prepared at an individualized dose rather than limited to standard commercial strengths. Importantly, FDA-approved bioidentical hormone products are also commercially available; your provider will discuss whether an approved product or a compounded preparation is more appropriate for your situation.
Coverage varies by plan. Some lab work may be covered by insurance. Compounded medications and consultations are typically not covered. Contact us to discuss pricing.
Medical Weight Loss
Medical weight loss uses prescription medications that act on the biological systems regulating hunger, appetite and metabolism, under the supervision of a licensed provider. Rather than relying on willpower alone, these medications work with your body's hormonal signalling to reduce appetite and support fat loss. They are used alongside nutrition and activity changes, not instead of them.
Semaglutide is a GLP-1 receptor agonist, a medication that mimics a natural hormone called GLP-1. It reduces appetite, increases feelings of fullness and slows the rate at which food leaves the stomach. It has been shown to produce significant weight loss in clinical trials of the FDA-approved branded products.
Tirzepatide is a dual GIP/GLP-1 receptor agonist, meaning it acts on two hormone pathways involved in appetite and blood sugar regulation. Clinical trials of the FDA-approved branded product have demonstrated substantial weight loss.
Results vary considerably between individuals, and no result can be guaranteed. Published clinical trials of the FDA-approved branded formulations of these medications have reported average weight loss ranging from roughly the mid-teens to the low twenties as a percentage of body weight when combined with lifestyle modification. Those trials studied the branded, FDA-approved products under controlled conditions. They were not studies of compounded preparations, and your own result will depend on your starting point, your dose, your adherence and your lifestyle. Your provider will set realistic expectations based on your individual health profile.
The most commonly reported side effects of GLP-1 medications include nausea, constipation, diarrhea, vomiting and reduced appetite, particularly when starting treatment or increasing the dose. Less common but more serious risks have been reported, including pancreatitis and gallbladder disease, and these medications are not appropriate for people with certain personal or family medical histories. Your provider will review the full risk profile with you, start at a low dose and titrate gradually.
Treatment duration varies. Some patients use medication for several months to reach a goal weight; others continue longer to maintain results. Weight regain after stopping is common. Your provider will work with you to determine an appropriate plan.
Weight loss consultations can be conducted in person at our Palmdale clinic or via telehealth, whichever is more convenient. Follow-up check-ins can also be conducted virtually.
Yes. Your medication is prepared by a US-based, FDA-registered compounding pharmacy and shipped directly to your door. Compounded medications are not FDA-approved products. They are prepared pursuant to an individual prescription and have not undergone FDA premarket review for safety and efficacy. Your provider will explain how this differs from the commercially manufactured branded products and why a compounded preparation is or is not appropriate for you.
Yes. Medication works best alongside nutrition and activity changes, and the clinical trial results for these medications were achieved in combination with lifestyle modification. Your provider can offer guidance.
Every patient is evaluated individually before any medication is prescribed, treatment is supervised by a licensed provider, and your progress is monitored with regular check-ins. That said, no medication is without risk. GLP-1 and related medications have known side effects and contraindications, and compounded preparations have not undergone FDA premarket review. Whether this program is appropriate for you is a clinical judgement your provider will make with you after reviewing your health history, medications and lab results. Contact your provider promptly if you experience side effects, and call 911 in an emergency.
Safety & Medications
Compounded medications are prepared by a US-based, FDA-registered compounding pharmacy using pharmaceutical-grade ingredients under applicable quality standards, and your treatment is monitored with regular lab work and follow-up. It is important to understand, though, that compounded preparations are not FDA-approved: unlike commercially manufactured drugs, they do not undergo FDA premarket review for safety, effectiveness or manufacturing quality. Every medication carries risk, and whether a compounded preparation is appropriate for you is a clinical judgement your provider will make after reviewing your health history.
No. Compounded medications are not FDA-approved products. Our compounding pharmacy is registered with the FDA and operates under applicable state and federal oversight, and compounded preparations are made using pharmaceutical-grade active ingredients, but the finished compounded preparation itself has not been reviewed or approved by the FDA. FDA-approved commercial alternatives exist for many of these therapies, and your provider will discuss whether an approved product or a compounded preparation is the better fit for your situation.
Contact your provider directly through the patient portal messaging system. Your provider can adjust your dose or modify your treatment plan. If you experience a medical emergency, call 911.
Compounded medications are shipped directly to your door by our pharmacy partner.
